When will storytimes, programs and meeting room use be reinstated?

We plan to reinstate all library services including storytimes, programs and meeting room use as soon as it is safe to do so. We are following guidance from the Putnam County Health Department, the Ohio Library Council and the CDC. Since we do not know when that will be, we are not scheduling meeting rooms for the time being. However, you can book the small tutor room in Ottawa for 1 hour. Storytimes and events will be scheduled via Facebook and Zoom.

When can I use the Mazie Hauck Frey Local History Center?

Unfortunately, the Mazie Hauck Frey Local History Center is closed until August 15th. If you need assistance please call the Ottawa location at 419-523-3747.

When and where should I return my materials?

Please return books, DVDs, and CDs to any Putnam County District Library book drop. (Do not return to service desks.)  We have extended due dates and are waiving overdue fines. All returned materials will be quarantined for 72 hours before being discharged from your account. This will not prevent you from checking out more materials.

What about fines and fees?

All overdue fines have been waived for the time being. However, you are still responsible for damaged or lost materials.

Is the Library cleaning all the books, DVDs and music CDs?

The Library is following procedures recommended by the Putnam County Health Department and the Battelle study commissioned by the Ohio Library Council. We are placing all returned materials in quarantine for 72 hours and wiping them with a disinfectant before returning them to the shelves. Additionally, each library surface, computer, table, chair etc. will be sanitized as soon as possible after each use.

Will curbside service still be an option?

Yes, curbside service will still be an option at all 8 locations.

Can I borrow material through InterLibrary Loan?

Delivery through the State Library's Serving Every Ohioan should resume the beginning of August. In the meantime, you can request items from any of the 8 Putnam County District Library locations. InterLibrary loan requests from other states will not be resumed until 2021.

Are public computers available?

Computers will  be available by appointment only. Patrons may use a public computer for 1 hour at a time. After each use, the computer will be sanitized before the next patron. Each library location is equipped with Wi-Fi for personal devices.

Are patrons required to wear a mask at the library?

We encourage patrons to wear a mask when visiting the library, however, masks are not required. We do ask that patrons wash their hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering the building. Hand sanitizer will be provided at all 8 locations.
