Memorial Hall Location
The Fort Jennings branch of the Putnam County District Library proudly commenced operations within Memorial Hall, located on Water Street, on the 1st of February, 1986. A grand opening was later conducted on the 9th of February in the same year, marking a significant milestone for the community. The appointment of Doris Miehls as the inaugural librarian spearheaded the establishment's journey towards fostering literacy and knowledge in the area.

Prior to the branch's opening, the township trustees generously allocated a room on the first floor of Memorial Hall for the library's use. This gesture was complemented by their initiative to refresh the space with a new coat of paint, ensuring a welcoming environment for patrons. Furthermore, the library's inception was bolstered by financial contributions from several local organizations, notably the Jaycees, the Lions Club, and the Bicentennial Committee. These funds were instrumental in acquiring essential amenities, among which were a book drop and a bicycle rack, the latter two courtesy of the Lions Club. These contributions not only exemplified the community's commitment to the library but also enhanced its functionality and accessibility.
Memorial Hall Location
The library's tenure at Memorial Hall spanned over two decades, concluding in May 2007. This period of transition was precipitated by the construction of a new Fort Jennings Local School in 2004, which subsequently availed space within the old school premises. Seizing this opportunity, the Fort Jennings location of the Putnam County District Library was relocated to the former band room of the old school in the summer of 2007. This move represented a new chapter for the library, allowing it to continue its mission of serving the community while providing a larger location.
